GRASS-FED 100% LOCAL BEEF
Winter 2024 Beefshares now available!
Our livestock operation is run by a team of neighbors committed to stewardship of the land and forests, with respect for the farming traditions and local wisdom that runs deep here in Hampshire County. In partnership with our two neighbor farms, Whitacre Family Farms and Royston Farms, we run cows on grass across 500 acres of land, and are building towards running heritage hogs on silvopasture and acorns in 50 acre free-range tracts of mature oak forest.
Our goal is to build a farm operation that is both ecologically and financially self-sustaining. We believe that land well-tended can be a platform for joy, and provide a place of respite, fun and adventure to our friends, family and community, here in Romney and in the Washington, DC areas.
We are passionate about the Potomac Watershed region, and believe the land of Hampshire County forms the western pillar of this great region, connected by the flow of water to the Shenandoah Valley and Chesapeake Bay to our east.

How we raise our cows
Our herd includes Angus, Devon & Hereford hybrids, all well-suited to the climate and landscape of the Potomac Highlands. Despite the hype, hybrids are heartier, stronger and healthier than pure-bred cows. They are raised & finished on 100% grass pasture and overwinter hay from our fields. We use rotational grazing practices to let our land rest and maximize the nutrient value and ecological health of the pasture.
